From a Digital Model to Precision Manufacturing
Before the first machine is started in production, the house already exists as a detailed digital model. It defines the materials, dimensions, openings, penetrations and structural details of Marles systems. hsbMake connects this data with production and ensures that the right information reaches the right workstation at the right time and in the appropriate format. This has made us the first manufacturer of prefabricated timber houses in Slovenia to digitalise production so comprehensively.
This integrated solution was developed specifically for the production of timber buildings. The 3D model created in hsbMake becomes the source of information for every production stage: planning, cutting and CNC processing, assembly of wall, ceiling and roof elements, installation of windows and doors, and quality control. Employees always have access to the latest model and drawings at their workstations, while the machines receive precise processing data.
In prefabricated construction, a large part of the house is produced in a controlled environment protected from the weather. In the production hall, we manufacture the structural elements, install windows and doors together with window sills and shading systems, complete the specified parts of the electrical installations and prepare the façade for completion on site.

Due to the high degree of prefabrication, the data must be precise and coordinated, as every installed detail travels with the element to the construction site. We believe that details make a house. A carefully executed detail, produced exactly according to plan and verified through quality control, is the safest and most durable solution.

Before production begins, our structural engineers first define the materials and processing operations directly in the hsbMake model. Based on the same source, each workstation then receives only the information required for its particular step: dimensions, type and quantity of material, positions of openings, penetrations and fittings, and the sequence of work.

In the past, employees often had to determine where a particular element belonged and whether it was correctly positioned, repeatedly checking paper drawings. Today, digital production drawings and 3D visualisations can easily be enlarged, rotated and measured, allowing employees to understand details faster and more clearly than from extensive paper plans.
If the project changes, the updated data is immediately transferred to the digital system, and every workstation continues working with the same current version. This reduces the risks associated with outdated drawings, manually transcribed measurements and duplicated documentation. Screens are gradually replacing paper, making work clearer, calmer and more environmentally responsible. The digital environment significantly reduces paper consumption, while the detailed project overview provided by hsbMake also helps reduce waste and timber offcuts in production.
Another important benefit is real-time production monitoring. The system shows which elements have been completed, which are currently being produced and where a deviation has occurred. The team can therefore respond before an issue affects the next stage. Measurements, inspection points and photographs are recorded during production, creating a clear digital record for each building, from the first element to the completion of production.
The greatest improvements have been achieved in precision, traceability and work organisation. Predefined rules reduce the need for repeated checks, while clear visualisations allow employees to focus more closely on execution. This is particularly important for sealing and protecting the timber structure, where the building’s durability depends on correctly designed, precisely executed and documented details.
Implementing the system was not only a technical project, but also a change in working practices. Craftspeople who had used paper drawings for decades needed time, practical training and support to integrate the new tool into their daily work. hsbMake does not replace their expertise, but complements it. Experience remains the foundation of quality, while digital data reduces repetitive tasks and helps prevent errors.
For Marles, hsbMake is therefore more than simply replacing paper with screens. It forms the basis of a connected and traceable production process. In the future, we aim to strengthen the connection between ordering, planning and production so that the journey from choosing a house to its assembly becomes even more transparent and predictable. Digitalisation remains a means of achieving the same objective that has guided Marles for decades: creating a high-quality, durable and precisely built home.

Marles was the first company in Slovenia to introduce such comprehensive digitalisation into the production of prefabricated timber houses. We do not regard this merely as a title, but as a responsibility towards the quality we have been building for decades and towards the people who entrust us with their homes. Technology alone does not build a good house. People do.

That is why hsbMake has not replaced our craftspeople but supports them. Their knowledge and decades of experience are enhanced by a tool that simplifies their work and gives them more time to focus on what they do best. In the future, we want to connect ordering and production even more closely, making the journey from the moment a client chooses their house to the moment it is ready for assembly even more transparent and predictable.
